Following the resounding success of the launch of the TwinZimele Truck Stop in Brits, North West, we are pleased to announce the launch of another Truck Stop at Smithfield, Free State. This is in keeping with Zimele’s growth plan of expanding its footprint of Truck Stops around the country.

In my capacity as Chairperson of Zimele Truck Stop Enterprises, I Prof / Dr John K. Maluleke wish to extend my gratitude to all stakeholders who were involved in the planning and establishment of this excellent Truck Stop within the Mohokare Local Municipal area. Most importantly, the Honourable Mayor deserves 100% total credit for practically demonstrating her ‘Political Will’ commitment in partnering and navigating this important project with Zimele Truck Stop Enterprises. At local government level, that is where service delivery happens, and the Mayor has practically demonstrated her distinctive competence and diligence in touching the lives of everybody on the ground.
It is worth mentioning that it was after an extensive basic drivers’ needs analysis that Zimele Truck Stop Enterprises arrived at the following findings:
- Establishment of a safe and secure parking places along each road transport infrastructure corridor.
- Strategically Positioning, providing and managing facilities / amenities to enable freight hauliers to periodically stop, walk out of vehicles so as to alleviate any potential in-transit fatigue.
In responding to the above basic human requirements, the Mayor of Mohokare Local Municipality, together with the Private sector (Zimele Truck Stop Enterprises) have reached a decision to ensure that safety and security culture must be instilled throughout the entire South African road network.

Zimele Truck Stop Enterprises is thrilled with this opening marking another step in its expansion. Located at coordinates 30°13’01″S and 26°32’11″E, at the Corner of Oettle/Klopper & N6, Smithfield, Free State this new establishment demonstrates the company’s dedication to improving driver services and boosting the local economy. In liaison with the Mohokare Local Municipality, a good component of the construction work was carried out by local community contractors, promoting economic empowerment in the region.

With the grand opening which took place on 7th August 2024, the Smithfield truck stop promises to deliver the same high standards of safety, convenience, and hospitality that define Zimele Truck Stops nationwide.
